IL 60093 P (847) 441-0134 F (847) 441-9434 betsy@cornercooks.com HOURS Dinner 7 nights a week at 5pm Lunch Monday through Saturday ABOUT US Corner Cooks was founded in 1999 by Betsy Simson who wanted to, in her words, “create a beautiful place on a beautiful street where something beautiful will be made every day.” As a former Creative Director in the Advertising business Betsy knows first hand that you have to deliver what you promise. JERRY'S was born in 2008 and is connected to Corner Cooks through French doors. We have a menu based on seasonal flavors and French technique with eccletic influences. Our dinner specials menu begins every Thursday and runs till it runs out. Jerry was my father and at a ripe old age passed away in 2009. His picture graces the wall, his name forever on the door. All is dedicated to his love of life, sport, books, and food. Enter the team: Executive Chef, Larry Smith Betsy says, “For years I've been looking for the perfect man. And I found him in Larry. He upstages me. His resume is more impressive. He's funnier. (I'm still cuter though.) He has held pompous titles at restaurants with the likes of Le Bouchon, Zinc Brasserie, La Tour, Le Ciel Bleu. He was Chef du Partie for Loews Monte Carlo and served as Sous Chef in charge of banquets at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. He was the senior chef instructor at Kendall College for 11 years.” “But no more. He's mine now. And yours. Bringing all his wonderful cooking and teaching skills to Corner Cooks. Every class, every dinner, every event is supervised by Larry. Nothing slips by him. Take my word on that, HE'S very big.” You may meet many other chefs, servers and bartenders that work with Corner Cooks on parties and catering events: all of whom share our love of beautiful food, prepared beautifully, just for you. Bridget Burns, She who rules the kitchen: came to us as an intern from Kendall College and then left us to become the sous chef and pastry chef for La Sardine restaurant. She came back to us (we begged) and is now head of our catering program as well as the chief honcho in the kitchen. Edward Huelke, General Manager, Jerry's restaurant. Ed and Larry go back a long way (30 years way, actually) back to the opening of Morton's restaurant. We got on our knees and begged him to leave his great job at Food For Thought to get Jerry's up and running. He's a born front of the house guy-moves like lightening and makes me laugh all the time. Holly Stuart, General Manager, Corner Cooks. She runs me. She runs the office. She runs the guys who run the kitchen. It begins and ends in the office-Holly has been with us 5 years now and if you don't know her line of Tabletop accessories, "Holly Stuart Designs" www.hollystuartdesigns you've missed something special. Peachtree Place carries her line and her gorgeous placemats make the table. Julie Robbins: Julie came for a party one night about 4 years ago and returned to work in the kitchen with Larry. She has been busy with her 2 daughters and husband for the last 12 years and after much begging has agreed to work with us as Director of Development. She comes armed with an incredible sales background and we figure who better to get companies and people looking for new venues excited about us than someone excited about us? Sari Sackrider: I met Sari years ago when she was with Tablescapes, our party rental company. We became instant friends and last summer after much persuasion, she came to work with us to head up our party business. She's just the person you want when you need lots of rentals for the best price. Her sense of space is amazing -she's also a great cook and a great grandmother! (Not to mention friend) Jonnie Wills: So, what does Jonnie NOT do? He's head of purchasing, he's our cold line cook, he's often hot line cook, he's in charge of inventory AND he makes a mean cobbler. (Bridget's protege). He was a navy man but now he's our guy and we couldn't function without him. As for his title? Oh ye of many hats. |
